Siemens Gamesa has a professional team with proper training that services thousands of wind turbines that continuously help improve the planet’s health, generating a wind power of over 100GW globally. That is enough green energy to power approximately 87 million households annually!

As the world’s only manufacturer that operates globally across the entire wind spectrum — onshore, offshore, and wind services — they are well on the spot to strive and unlock the full potential of wind power and energy. They push the technological boundaries of clean energy by delivering innovative wind at an even more affordable cost and price.

History Of Siemens Gamesa

1980 – The Danish company Danregn diversified into the wind turbine business 1983 – Danregn changed its name to Bonus Energy 1991 – Bonus installed 11 450 kW wind turbines in the Vandeby Offshore Wind Farm – the first offshore wind farm in the world 2004 – Siemens Gamesa purchased Bonus and moved the company to Hamburg, German 2010 – Siemens acquired Orsted’s offshore wind farm installation company – this set the precedent for future partnerships between Siemens Gamesa and Orsted 2016 – Siemens and the Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa agree to merge, leading to the company we now know as Siemens Gamesa

There always had been a limitless potential in wind energy, from powering factories to illuminating houses across the globe. The people behind Siemens Gamesa saw that potential. They strived toward it, establishing something significant and impactful that slowly made their vision a reality.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, S.A resulted from the merge between Siemens Wind Power and Gamesa. The new company instantly became a world-leading turbine manufacturer and supplier with the most experienced and skilled energy infrastructure delivery team in New Zealand and Australia.

Gamesa began its operations in Spain under the name Grupo Auxiliar Metalúrgico in 1976. The company at that time focused mainly on the development and management of industrial projects and technology for emerging activities and businesses. Gamesa entered the wind energy sector and industry in 1994, effectively completing its first-ever wind farm the following year in Spain.

Siemens Wind Power’s core business has always been involved in the wind power industry since its establishment in 2004, when it acquired Bonus Energy. After the acquisition, Siemens gained a wealth of technology, with a proven and long history that stretches back to 1980. Included in their rich history is providing turbines for the first offshore wind farm in Denmark in 1991.

In 2017, these two powerful and global leading companies merged and combined, giving birth to Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, which is now one of the biggest turbine suppliers and manufacturers with wind farm services and excellent project delivery!

The united company’s main headquarters is located at Parque Tecnológico De Bizkaia in Zamudio, Spain. Their current CEO is Jochen Eickholt, with the current sitting chairman being Miguel Ángel López.

Siemens Gamesa Wind Turbines

Wind turbines are gigantic machines that work on a simple principle — transforming the kinetic energy from wind to electricity. A wind turbine converts and transforms wind energy into electricity using the rotor blade’s aerodynamic force.

These rotors work similarly to a helicopter rotor blade or an airplane wing. The translation of aerodynamic force to generator rotation creates electricity.

The rotor is either connected to the generator directly or through a shaft and series of gears. The rotor diameter somewhat controls the amount of electricity produced. The larger the rotor diameter, the more wind it captures; hence more electricity is created.

Siemens Gamesa is one of the biggest companies in the wind energy market today. They manufacture and supply grade A wind turbines that push the boundaries of wind power. With almost four decades of experience in clean energy, it is a guarantee that their turbines are top-of-the-line in terms of quality and function.

Siemens Gamesa claims to offer some of the best services and products for each project and site condition. They have various wind turbines available in all areas under the wind power business.

What are the products and services under Siemens Gamesa?

Here are the products and services Siemens Gamesa offers:

Onshore

Operating in about 90 countries, Siemens Gamesa offers a wide variety of onshore wind turbine technologies that are created to cover all wind classes and site conditions. They explored the expansion of onshore wind, which plays a massive part in the fight for a greener and better planet.

Siemens Gamesa explored ways to extract the maximum potential of wind through energy storage. There has been a flood of innovations, including developments in the production of hydrogen and storage facilities that improve and boost the potential of onshore wind and help decarbonize heavy industry and the transport sectors.

Siemens Gamesa’s onshore services offer innovative solutions, a flexible product portfolio, and improved performance via tailored product configuration. The company indeed values working with their customers as they go out of their way to understand their concerns.

Offshore

There has been an exponential growth regarding wind power and energy over the past years. Of course, alongside that growth is the rapid development of offshore wind power. Siemens Gamesa was never one to be left behind.

Siemens Gamesa always had been a pioneer in offshore wind turbines. They hold the record for being the first to install an offshore wind farm project in 1991. Since then, Siemens Gamesa has become a global leader for offshore, with about 70% of the market share in Europe alone.

The company sought to retain its position as the standing global leader in offshore with its powerful technical solutions driven by its patented offshore Direct Drive Technology.

Siemens Gamesa has high-quality direct drive turbines such as SG 8.0-167 DD, SG 11.0-200 DD, and SG 14-222 DD included in their offshore wind power portfolio.

Where Are Siemens Gamesa Turbines Manufactured?

In 2018, Siemens Gamosa established a modern factory for their offshore wind turbines in Cuxhaven, Germany. There is a specific reason for choosing this location.

There is a severe issue with transportation methods. Road transportation was closely reaching its limit since current turbines weigh 400 tons with rotor blades that are about 94 meters long. Siemens Gamesa came up with an alternative to answer that transportation issue.

They opened a production site directly on the coast — an offshore nacelle factory close to the edge of one of Germany’s North Sea ports. This location allows direct transportation of heavy wind turbine components from the factory by ship to wind power plants at sea.

Conclusion

Siemens Gamesa is genuinely one of the biggest names in green and renewable energy. What makes them amazing, aside from their cutting edge technology and excellent services, is their deep commitment and dedication to the improvement and betterment of the planet. They strive to lessen the world’s climate crisis by providing sustainable and cost-effective wind energy sources.
